- Mai- 8 (Dance - VIII) -

The serene large-format silkscreen print Mai-8 (Dance VIII) by Soho Ikegami (b. 1940) captures the fleeting elegance of butterflies in a tranquil forest setting. White and yellow butterflies float above layers of small blossoms, while slender tree trunks recede into a softly shaded background. The gentle palette and decorative composition create an atmosphere of tranquility and mystery, reflecting the artist’s poetic vision of nature. Mai-8 is a particularly popular work in his butterfly series.

Soho Ikegami was born in 1940 in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture. Known for his silkscreen prints, he also works in woodblock printing and lithography. His artworks are collected both in Japan and internationally.
