Yashiki-rin (windbreak trees) around a home can reduce the cost of heating and cooling and save energy. Maeda saw different types of Yashiki-rin (Windbreak trees) in several places. Each place has a different style, depending on the weather, including the amount of snow and winds that they encounter. Maeda tries to show the difference of Japanese Yashiki-rin in his prints. Obtaining Yashiki-rin near households is a very traditional Japanese way, under the Japanese culture with wisdom and experience. Its rarity is one of the many beautiful aspects of Yashiki-rin. I truly admire his passion for incorporating many aspects of the Japanese culture in his woodblock prints.
