Amazing woodblock print "Hatsu haru" (New Year) is by Shinmei Kato (1910-1998). This is a lovely Bijin-ga woodblock print. Adorable Maiko (geisha) against bright colors. Very cheerful and colorful. Beautiful gold and silver-colored metallic pigments on her hair-ornaments, Kimono, and Obi sash.
Published by Takamizawa. The title "Hatsu haru" on the upper left margin. Carver name "Shigeo Kijima" and Printer name "Hiroshi Orihara" on the lower left margin. "Hanken Shoyu - Kondo Koshiro" (Copyright -Koshiro Kondo) on the lower right margin.
Artist hand-signed "Shinmei" and edition number "5/350" in Japanese old Kanji on the label on verso. A red "Takamizawa" publisher seal and publisher's owner "Kondo" seal on verso as well. Watermarked "Shinmei" on the upper left margin (corner).

Beautiful woodblock print "Shirabe" (Enchanting Melody) is by Shinmei Kato (1910-1998). Lovely Maiko is playing the Japanese 鼓(Tsuzumi - traditional hand drum) which is used in traditional Japanese music. This is a gorgeous Bijin-ga woodblock print with spectacular colors. Beautifully embossed. You can see the beautiful Baren mark on the background. Her hair ornament, make-up, and nail polish are soft pink color like a cherry blossom. And these add a precious and fresh atmosphere to this beautiful print.

Extremely rare woodblock print "Mai Ougi" (Fan for Japanese Dance) is by Shinmei Kato (1910-1998). 舞扇(Mai ougi) is a folding fan used in Japanese dances. This is a gorgeous Bijin-ga woodblock print with spectacular colors. The background is printed in gold mica. Her kimono, make-up, and nail polish are soft pink color like a cherry blossom.
