The beautiful woodblock print “Seta no Karahashi” (Karahashi Bridge, Seta), from Tomikichiro Tokuriki’s (1902–2000) rare and highly regarded series Ōmi Hakkei (Eight Views of Ōmi Province), is a hand-signed, limited-edition work.

This print captures a breathtaking sunset at Karahashi Bridge. Figures enjoy the tranquil evening as they stroll across the bridge, while the water below reflects its graceful form with quiet beauty. Karahashi Bridge is one of Japan’s three most famous bridges and is celebrated in “Seta no Yūshō” (Sunset at Seta) or or "Seta no Karahasi"(Karahashi bridge, Seta) one of the Eight Views of Ōmi. The Seta area has long served as an important transportation route and has been the stage for many historical events.

The print is signed “T. Tokuriki” and numbered in pencil at the lower right. The Japanese title, along with the artist’s signature “Tomi” and red seal, also appears in the lower right. The right margin includes Ōmi Hakkei (series title), Shohan (First Edition), and Hanmoto Matsukyu (publisher’s name).

Many Japanese artists have been inspired by this celebrated location, and Tokuriki’s interpretation beautifully captures its calm spirit and poetic charm.
