The stunning serigraph print 'Tanba no Ie' (Private House in Tanba) by Yukio Katsuda (b. 1941) beautifully captures the quiet elegance of a traditional village in Kuchihatta, Tanba, Kyoto. Surrounded by lush greenery, the gassho-style house and storehouse blend seamlessly into the tranquil landscape—where even the air seems to exude beauty.

Created using Katsuda’s patented *'Ryu-ga' technique—a method he developed to convey rich textures and subtle tonal nuances—this work radiates depth and serenity. Revered by collectors worldwide, his art is celebrated for its emotional resonance and exceptional craftsmanship.

The edition number "202/240," title "NO.191," the artist’s hand-signed signature "Y. Katsuda," and the date "'86," along with the artist’s red seal, are inscribed in pencil on the bottom margin. Additional details—including the title and artist’s name—are stamped on the verso.

*'Ryu-ga' is a unique technique the artist developed through years of dedicated study in pursuit of his own form of expression. Each work is created by meticulously layering paint through countless tiny holes in the block, building depth and texture with every application.

Yukio Katsuda was born in 1941 in Kyoto. He entered the Department of Japanese Painting at Kyoto City University of Arts in 1962 and graduated in 1966. During his studies, he began exploring "Ryu-ga" techniques, which he first exhibited after graduation. In 1991, the Japan Patent Office officially registered the trademark "Ryu-ga".
