“Koetsu-ji no Aki” (Koetsu-ji Temple in Autumn, Kyoto) by Masao Ido beautifully depicts the splendor of autumn at one of Kyoto’s most celebrated temples, renowned for its brilliant autumn foliage. The vivid colors of the leaves are harmoniously complemented by the Koetsu-gaki, the distinctive bamboo fence admired by Hon’ami Koetsu. Adding further charm to the scene is Daikyoan, Koetsu’s former residence, later rebuilt as a tea house in the early Taishō era (1915), which rises gracefully above the fence.
