The striking woodblock print “Senbon Torii” (A Thousand Torii at Fushimi Inari Shrine) by Toshijiro Inagaki is one of his most popular works. The vermilion gates draw the viewer into a rhythmic, almost meditative scene.
The artist’s red seal “Toshi” appears at lower left, while an embossed mark on the lower right margin reads “Ningenkokuho Inagaki Toshijiro sensei saku”—confirming its creation by a Living National Treasure Toshijiro Inagaki. Printed on fine handmade washi paper, it also shows beautiful ink bleed-through—enhancing its authenticity and charm. A refined and timeless piece, perfect for collectors and lovers of Japanese art.
Toshijiro Inagaki (1902-1963) was born in Kyoto. He was a well-known Japanese Katazome (stencil dying) artist. He was given the title of National Living Treasure by the Japanese government in 1962.
