The wonderful woodblock print "Kacho-zu Fusuma-e” (Birds and Flowers) is by Eitoku Kano (1543-1590), a renowned Japanese Nihon-ga painter of the Kano school. This print is part of the 46 sliding door paintings in the main hall of Juko-in Temple in Kyoto. The original paintings have been designated as National Treasures. This superb image depicts a serene winter view with birds and flowers. The mountains can be faintly seen beyond the morning mist, and I feel like I can hear the voices of geese in the cold early winter air.
Originally painted in ca. 1566, this print was published by Tansei-sha in 1983. The publisher's seal, the printer's name "Kurazo Yoneda," and the carver's name "Sadao Uetani" are located in the right margin. It comes with an original explanatory paper (Japanese only, no English).

The beautiful woodblock print "Chie no Umi, Machiami" (Ocean of Wisdom, Net Fishing) is by Hokusai Katsushika (1760-1849). Originally produced in the Edo period, this is a re-carved edition in a smaller format, published by The National Museum in Showa 20 nen (1945). It depicts net fishing, with fishermen using nets and baskets to catch fish in the rapid current. The image is very dynamic and powerful, and the beautifully embossed and delicate details are superb.
A small caption is attached to the verso. It states: Published by The National Museum, Supervisor's name: Toyohisa Adachi, Carver's name: Takeo Aoyagi, Printer's name: Bunji Yokoyama, Title, artist's name, and dated "Showa 20 nen 5 gatsu" (May 1945).

The breathtaking woodblock print "Shinshu Matsumoto-jo" (Matsumoto Castle in Shinshu) is by Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1992). This very subtle and serene night image of Matsumoto Castle was produced by Watanabe publisher in a limited edition of 195 copies to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Shiro Kasamatsu's birth and published by Kyodo Shuppan-sha in Heisei 10 nen (1998). The Japanese title "信州松本城" (Shinshu Matsumoto-jo) and the date "昭和9年夏" (Showa 9 nen Natsu, Summer 1934) are on the left margin. The artist's signature "紫浪" with the artist's red seal is on the lower right of the image. Watanabe's Heisei seal "わたなべ" and the printer's seal "堀川昭三郎" (Horikawa Shozaburo) are on the lower left margin. This is a later printing from the original blocks. There is a red approval seal "Kasamatsu Kyosuke" (Shiro's son) and the sheet number 100/195 on the verso.

The serene woodblock print "Fuji Jū-Nikei no uchi, Shinano Suwa-ko" (Lake Suwa in Shinano Province, from Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji) is by Hiroshige Ando (1797–1858). This beautiful print depicts a contrasting view of frozen Lake Suwa and snow-capped Mount Fuji. Lake Suwa is frozen, and travelers are seen walking on it, as well as people carrying loads on horseback. The trees and castle are lightly covered in snow. The details are so delicate.
The title "Shinano Suwa-ko", Hiroshige's red seal, and embossed seal are in the lower right of the image. When Hiroshige was in his late 50s, he drew this series (Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji). They were originally sketchbooks/picture albums of hand-painted images. They are very delicate, and the subtle colors are beautiful. This woodblock print is a high-quality Fukkoku Mokuhan (reproduction woodblock print) by Yoshio Kawazura (1880–1963), printed in Taisho 14 (1925). This is rarely on the market. It is still tipped on the original folder.

This peaceful early summer image of Keio Floral Garden is full of iris flowers, creating a serene and tranquil atmosphere. It is hand-signed "Jun Sekino" with the sheet number, date, and watermark on the bottom margin. The artist's red seal in the lower right corner of the image.
Keio Hyakka-en (Keio Floral Garden) was said to have the 'best irises in Japan,' growing more than 500 types of irises in those days, but it was permanently closed in 2021.

The amazing woodblock print 'Kacho-zu’ (Birds and Flowers) is by Sanraku Kano (1559-1635), a renowned Japanese Nihon-ga painter of the Kano school. Originally painted during the Edo period as a folding screen, the original (folding screen) is now held in the Freer Gallery of Art, an art museum of the Smithsonian Institution, in Washington, D.C. This print image is a part of a whole painting. The print was published by Tansei-sha in 1983.
