The lovely woodblock print 'Sakura' is by Kan Kozaki (b. 1942) and is printed on delicate and tasteful Japanese washi paper. The image depicts a woman surrounded by scattering cherry blossom petals, capturing the ephemeral beauty of the blossoms. The image part has very slight pink tint
Accompanied by a haiku by Santoka Taneda, a revered poet of the early 20th century, the print further conveys the transient nature of life and the sense of wanderlust evoked by the cherry blossoms. The haiku, "The cherry blossoms bloomed, and I am a traveler," poignantly reflects on the fleeting nature of the blossoms and life itself.
Cherry blossoms hold deep cultural significance in Japan, symbolizing love, beauty, and the impermanence of life. They have inspired poets, monks, and travelers for centuries, serving as a reminder to cherish the beauty in fleeting moments.

The beautiful woodblock print 'Kanten' (The Sky of a Drought) is by Katsuyuki Nishijima. It's a very bold and impressive print. This scene depicts a famous Okinawan pottery store ("Tsuboya yaki") in Naha, Okinawa. Please note that this print is small-sized, measuring 6 inches by 8 inches. The focal point of the artwork is the "Shisa" on the roof. Many people place a pair of Shisa (lion dogs) on their rooftops as wards believed to protect them from various evils. (Kanten) means a drought continues without rain for a long time.
Nishijima employs old words as titles, which people are not accustomed to using in their daily lives recently. Sometimes, I directly ask Nishijima about this. I believe he aims to incorporate Japanese spirits or cultures that have been forgotten into his artwork.
