Hideo Nishiyama (1911 - 1989) was born in Kyoto. He was a well-known (Nihon-ga) Japanese painting artist in Japan. Unsodo published "The Woodblock Prints -National Parks Series" by Hideo Nishiyama and Kaii Higashiyama in 1960.

Extra large size print, actually two large size prints adjoined. Tokuriki mentioned about this print in his book. He used the old technic of the Edo period which was carving and printing each print separately and adjoining later to appreciate. Titled "Neko to Kotori" and dated "1959" in Japanese on the upper right margin. Artist signature "Tomi " in gold on the lower right corner of each print. Artist's red seal "Toku" on the lower right corner of the image of the lower print. Signed "T. Tokuriki" and edition number "48/50" on the lower left corner of the image. The exceptional woodblock print "Himawari"(Sunflower - Van Gogh) is by Gihachiro Okuyama (1907-1981). A very powerful and beautiful art piece. The original artist's name "Van Gogh", the title "Himawari", Numbered "91-67", Pencil-signed "Gihachiro Okuyama", and dated "1960" on the bottom margin. Dated "Showa 35 nen 7 gatsu 17 nichi" (1960, July 17th) and "Okuyama Gihachiro jizuri"(Printed by Gihachiro Okuyama), and small red seal "Hori, Gijin"(Carved by Gijin Okuyama) on the left margin. Gihachiro Okuyama produced wonderful woodblock print series of famous European paintings. This print is one of them. They are highly collectible prints and are hard to find nowadays. This Sunflower is very popular and extremely hard to find.

Teruhide Kato had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled "Kyoto Romance", he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2015.

Teruhide Kato had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled "Kyoto Romance", he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2015.

In addition, she produced a print collection "Paris" with very famous photographer Kishin Shinoyama and writer Jun Ishikawa. She passed away in 1995 in Tokyo, Japan. She was 58 years old.

Cat with Pendant

Extremely rare print "Cat with Pendant" is by Tomoo Inagaki (1902-1980). This cat is very handsome and looks like a king. Very large size print. Sheet number "19/50" and the sign "T. Inagaki" in pencil by the artist on the bottom margin. "Donge san ni okuru, 1955" in Japanese on the upper right margin. This translates to "Gift for Donge" (I assume the famous artist "Donge Kobayashi" ) in 1955. This print was given to Donge from Inagaki in 1955. Genuine handmade Japanese woodblock print. Inagaki Tomoo was born in Tokyo. Inagaki is best known for his images of cats in modern style. Especially his cat prints are very hard to find. Limited edition - hand signed of only 50 prints.
