The humorous print "Toritachi" (The Birds) is by Takeji Asano. This unique black-and-white composition depicts many birds lined up crying, almost as if you can hear the birds chirping all at once. Thesimplified image of birds, rendered in bold, clearly defined lines. Despite its strong and striking design, the image conveys an unexpectedly heartwarming and comical charm.

The Japanese title “鳥たち”, the artist’s hand-signed name “浅野竹二” in Japanese and the signature “T. Asano” appear in the lower margin. The number 255 (possibly the artist’s design number) is also noted in the lower right corner and along the upper right margin edge. The date “‘73” and the block signature “T.a.” are found in the lower left of the image.
