The striking woodblock print “Ōhara Jakkōin” (Jakkōin Temple in Ōhara, Kyoto) is by Taizō Minagawa (1917–2005). Characteristic of Minagawa’s background as a dyeing artist, the work features rich color and bold design, beautifully capturing the dramatic autumn scenery of Jakkōin Temple and its garden ablaze with seasonal foliage.
Minagawa’s work is truly distinctive, with dynamic compositions and a vivid decorative sensibility that is especially captivating The left margin includes the Japanese title “Ōhara Jakkōin,” along with the artist’s name “Minagawa Taizō saku,” the publisher Unsōdō, the carver Monju, and the printer Takenaka. The publisher's watermark appears in the upper left margin.
