The simple and minimalist woodblock print “Yasaka no Tou” (The Pagoda at Yasaka, Kyoto) is by Taizō Minagawa (1917–2005). Characteristic of Minagawa’s background as a dyeing artist, the work features rich colors and a bold design, beautifully capturing the iconic pagoda in Kyoto through a restrained and minimal composition. Its simple yet sophisticated beauty is expressed in a highly distinctive and elegant manner.
