- Yabakei (Rain at Yabakei) -

The elegant large-format woodblock print Yabakei (Rain at Yabakei) is a later edition after Hashiguchi Goyo, published by Yuyudo. A horse-drawn cart and figures with umbrellas appear along a rain-soaked road beside a rocky river, with distant mountains softened by mist. Finely carved rain lines sweep across the scene, while muted mountain tones contrast with the richer colors of the foreground, creating a quiet, lyrical atmosphere.

The carver’s name, Torazo Matsuda, and the printer’s name, Shuntaro Ito, appear in the lower-right margin, while the Yuyudo publisher’s seal is in the lower-left margin. Goyo’s signature and red seal, together with the title and original date, appear in the lower-left corner of the image. Superb detailed carving conveys the beauty of this classic Goyo landscape.
