The touching woodblock print “The Scent of the Sea: Waiting Beneath the Clouds” is by Takashi Ohno (b. 1951). The print depicts two puppies by the beach, quietly waiting for someone to come and rescue them. Their small figures beneath the vast open sky create a touching sense of hope and anticipation. 

This image was used as an illustration for the novel A Single Precious Memory: The Puppy Story of Ken and Coro, written by Sachie Oikawa.
