The serene woodblock print “Tango Ine no Funaya” (Boathouses at Ine, Tango) by Tomikichiro Tokuriki (1902–2000) beautifully captures the distinctive waterfront village of Ine in Kyoto Prefecture, known for its traditional funaya (boathouses). The closely arranged houses along the water, small fishing boats, and their reflections create a peaceful and nostalgic view of coastal Japan. Tokuriki’s elegant composition and refreshing green-toned palette give the scene a calm and peaceful atmosphere.
The print is pencil-signed “T. Tokuriki” in the lower margin. The artist’s signature “Tomi” and red “Tomi” seal appear in the upper right corner of the image. The right margin includes the Japanese title “Tango Ine no Funaya,” the date “Shōwa 58 nen” (1983), and the edition number 54/150. The lower right margin also features the artist’s “Tomi” watermark.
