This refined ukiyo-e print by Kitagawa Utamaro belongs to the series Seirō Niwaka Onna Geisha no Bu, depicting three women performing comic roles during the lively Niwaka festivities of the Yoshiwara: a tea-whisk seller, a firewood seller, and a shrine-festival performer. Their animated gestures, distinctive costumes, fans, and theatrical headwear bring a playful energy to the composition. The graceful arrangement of the figures and softly balanced colors beautifully capture the fashionable entertainment culture of Edo-period Japan. 

Originally designed during the Edo period, this is a recarved edition from the late Shōwa era (approximately 1980–1990), published by Yuyudo. This impression was issued as part of Yuyudo’s Utamaro ukiyo-e collection and was designated “not for sale.” The fine color printing, shimmering silver mica background, and carefully rendered details reflect the skill and craftsmanship of traditional Japanese woodblock printing.
