"Oharame" refers to the women who came from Ohara, Kyoto, to sell firewood in the capital city of Kyoto by carrying the firewood on their heads. Originally, they sold firewood, and later they began selling wild vegetables collected from the mountain areas.
Toshijiro Inagaki (1902–1963) was born in Kyoto. He was a well-known Japanese Katazome artist. He was given the title of National Living Treasure by the Japanese government in 1962.
