This pre-war woodblock print, “Kyo-meibutsu Fushimi Ningyo Ten” (Kyoto Specialty: Fushimi Doll Shop), portrays a traditional Fushimi doll shop in Kyoto opening onto the street. The figure of the peddler passing by, dressed in the manner of the time, recalls a sight now lost to modern Kyoto. Rich in nostalgic charm, the print beautifully conveys the atmosphere of old Kyoto. The title and the artist’s seal appear in the lower right corner of the image.
