The serene woodblock print "Kobai" (Red Plum Blossoms) is by Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934). From the popular series "Onna judai" (Ten Female Subjects). Limited edition size of only 280 sheets. The title, artist's signature, and artist's red seal are in the lower left corner of the image. The artist's name, the title, edition number 158/280 in Japanese Kanji, and the publisher's name "Takamizawa" on the left margin. The deeply embossed title "Kobai" in Kanji is in the center top margin. This is a recarved edition by Takamizawa publisher in 1984. It comes with a Certificate of Authentication in Japanese. A woman holds red plum blossoms in her hands and admires the beauty of the flower. This print captures her innocence beautifully. Plum blossoms symbolize "beauty and longevity". This lovely print is sure to add a touch of elegance to any room.

Yumeji Takehisa was born in Okayama in 1884. He is very famous for his Bijin-ga (paintings of beautiful women), in addition, he succeeded as an illustrator for many books or advertisements. His typical lyrical works were called 'Yumeji-style beauties (Bijin). He is a representative painter of Taisho romance, and was sometimes called the "Ukiyo-e artist of the Taisho era''.
