- Iyo no Mikan-yama (Citrus Orchards on Mountain Slopes in Iyo) -

The exquisite woodblock print “Iyo no Mikan-yama” (Citrus Orchards on Mountain Slopes in Iyo) by Fumio Kitaoka (1918–2007) was printed in 1981. This large print beautifully captures the superb mountain scenery of Iyo, where a wide variety of citrus fruits are grown on terraced fields along the steep slopes. The view is wonderfully refreshing—like a vibrant patchwork quilt spread across the landscape.

Iyo, located in Ehime Prefecture, is one of Japan’s most famous citrus-producing regions, often referred to as the citrus kingdom. The distinctive orchards built on the dramatic coastal slopes create a truly magnificent and unique panorama.

The print is numbered, titled in Japanese, signed, and dated by the artist in pencil along the bottom margin. The watermark “FUMIO KITAOKA” appears in the top margin.
