- Heian Jingu, Haru (Heian Shrine in Spring, Kyoto) -

The serene woodblock print "Heian Jingu, Haru" (Heian Shrine in Spring) is by Koichi Okumura (1904–1974). This charming composition depicts a peaceful spring scene at the famed Heian Shrine in Kyoto and is from the artist's "Eight Noted Places of Kyoto" series. The iconic vermilion torii gate rises majestically through the spring rain, creating a striking and atmospheric image. Graceful willow branches, figures carrying umbrellas, and a touch of cherry blossom evoke the quiet beauty and tranquility of a rainy spring day in Kyoto.

Koichi Okumura (1904–1974) was a renowned Nihonga (Japanese-style painting) artist based in Kyoto. He also designed woodblock prints for the publisher Unsodo and was widely admired for his refined aesthetic sensibility and his ability to capture the poetic beauty of Kyoto's landscapes and changing seasons.

This print was produced in a format slightly smaller than the standard ōban size, making it particularly appealing for display in more intimate spaces.
