- Island Boat Harbor -

The peaceful small-format woodblock print Island Boat Harbor, Kubi by Osamu Ueda depicts fishing boats moored in Kubi, a small village on Osakishimojima Island in Hiroshima Prefecture’s Seto Inland Sea. The closely gathered boats, waterfront houses, and mountains beyond capture the everyday character of this fishing village.

Osamu Ueda was born in Hiroshima Prefecture in 1947. He graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at Hiroshima University and later held a joint exhibition with his father, artist Isao Ueda (b. 1924), at the Kure Municipal Museum of Art.
