The amazing woodblock print "Ginkaku-ji Sando" (Approach to Ginkaku-ji Temple, Kyoto) by Masao Ido (1945–2016) beautifully depicts the tranquil approach leading to Ginkaku-ji Temple (Silver Pavilion) in Kyoto. This impressive large-format print draws the viewer through a simple wooden gate toward a peaceful bamboo grove beyond. Soft light filters into the pathway, creating a wonderful sense of depth that invites the eye farther into the scene.

In the foreground, the massive trunk of an old pine tree and carefully arranged garden stones are beautifully balanced by a graceful maple tree with fresh green foliage on the right. Brilliant red camellia blossoms provide a vivid contrast against the rich greens of the bamboo grove, while Masao Ido's signature mastery of color and refined composition captures the timeless elegance and quiet beauty of a Kyoto temple garden. This peaceful scene brings a calming presence to any space, offering a glimpse into one of Kyoto's most beloved temple landscapes.
