- EIGAMURA -

The original limited-edition print “EIGAMURA” (Uzumasa Cinema Village, Kyoto) is by Clifton Karhu. Printed in 1983, this work comes from a limited edition of only 150 impressions. The print depicts two actors standing in front of a traditional money-exchange merchant's shop, capturing the atmosphere of Kyoto’s famous Uzumasa Cinema Village. Located in the Uzumasa district of Kyoto, Eiga Mura is renowned as the setting for countless Japanese samurai films and television dramas. Open to the public, the village features numerous indoor and outdoor sets that recreate the streets and architecture of old Japan. 

With its bold design, rich colors, and strong contrasts, this print is a wonderful example of Karhu’s unique artistic vision. It has a powerful visual appeal that immediately draws the eye. This original print is hand-signed, titled, dated, and numbered in pencil by the artist along the lower margin.

Condition: Overall, in very good condition with bold, vibrant colors. There are a few faint spots on the bottom margin. They are barely noticeable to the casual observer, with the exception of a very tiny spot in the lower right corner of the bottom margin. All of these will be matted out when framed. Please refer to the photos for details.
