- Tsurezure (Boared) -

The magnificent woodblock print 'Tsurezure' (Bored) from "Rajo Jusshu" (Ten Female Nudes) is by Toraji Ishikawa (1875–1964). It was printed in Showa 10 (1935). Ishikawa's best-known prints are from the Ten Female Nudes series, created from 1934-1935, and this print is one of them. The background features silver mica, which remains beautifully intact.

The lower left margin is watermarked with "Ishikawa Toraji" and also bears the carver's name, "Yamagishi Kazue" (1891–1984). The artist’s signature, "Ishikawa," along with the red "Tora" seal, appears in the upper right of the image. 

The artwork portrays a nude woman lying on a red rug, idly flipping through a book with an air of boredom. Beside her, a cat sleeps peacefully. The composition highlights the contrast between the traditional Ukiyo-e beauty shown in the book and the modern nude figure.

Signed: Hand-signed by the artist “Ishikawa,” with the red seal “Tora” in the upper right corner of the image. 
Condition: Overall in good condition for its age. Some minor toning on the margin edges, also slight water stains on the bottom margin which will be matted out There is a slight water stain at the bottom right of the image, but it's just above the line so it's barely visible or noticeable. For these reasons, I have adjusted the price slightly. Please refer to the pictures. The print still retains its very thin original overlay paper.
