The magnificent woodblock print 'Buryu Inko' ("Blue Cockatoo") from 'Rajo Jusshu' (Ten Female Nudes) is by Toraji Ishikawa (1875–1964). It was printed in Showa 9 (1934). Ishikawa's best-known works come from the Ten Female Nudes series, which began in 1934, and this print is one of them.

The exotic folding screen behind the blue cockatoo is embellished with silver mica. Two pillows on the sofa are also outlined with silver mica. The colors and designs of the rug, sofa, and pillows reflect the modern aesthetic of the Taisho to early Showa period. The woman, shown relaxing without shyness, embodies a more contemporary vision of Japanese femininity.

The lower left margin is watermarked with "Ishikawa Toraji" and bears the carver's name, "Yamagishi Kazue," as well as the printer's name, "Urushibara Eijiro." The artist’s signature, "Ishikawa," along with the red "Tora" seal, appears in the lower right of the image.

This print is extremely rare and highly sought after on the market today.
