- Kamakura Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gū (Tsurugaoka Shrine, Kamakura) -

The beautiful woodblock print "Kamakura Tsurugaoka Hachiman-gū" (Tsurugaoka Shrine, Kamakura) by Shiro Kasamatsu captures a serene autumn scene at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine. At the side of the stone steps stands the sacred Great Ginkgo tree, whose majestic presence graced the shrine grounds until it tragically fell in 2010. The work depicts the tree’s brilliant yellow foliage—a spectacle no longer visible in person. Though it has since been replaced by a young sapling, the memory of its vast golden canopy lives on in the hearts of many, and this print evokes a profound sense of nostalgia.

 The Japanese title "Kamakura Tsurugaoka Hachiman", along with the publisher’s name "Unsodo", the carver’s name "Nagashima", and the printer’s name "Harada", are inscribed in the left margin. Excellent colors with beautiful ink bleed-through.
