It was first published in 1953 and this is a later impression from the original blocks. The title 'Tokyo Hakkei no uchi, Akasaka Benkeibashi,' the publisher name 'Unsodo,' the carver name 'Nagashima,' and the printer name 'Hirai' on the left margin. It features a beautiful composition and lovely colors.

Very serene woodblock print by Shiro Kasamatsu. Title "Ameni kururu tou, Tokyo Yanaka" (Pagoda in Evening Rain, Yanaka) and "Banshun" (Late spring) on the left margin. Wonderful details and please notice the beautiful streaks of falling rain by Baren-sujizuri (the great technique of printer) and reflection of stone lantern light on the ground (under the big tree). Everything is so tasteful. Excellent shading and ink bleed through. There is no Watanabe seal. This print is later print, post-war, most likely printed 1940 -1950. This is a very popular Shiro print.

Breathtaking woodblock print "Nara no shika" (Deer at Nara) is by Shiro Kasamtsu (1898 - 1992). This is one of my favorite Kasamatsu prints. The publisher is Watanabe. It has a Watanabe "D"seal (1931-1941) on the lower-right margin. Title "Nara no shika" on the left margin. A beautiful girl with a bright-colored Kimono and adorable deer against the subtle background. The girl is feeding the Shika senbei (Cracker for the deer) to the deer. Really heartwarming and charming subject. This print is really hard to find.

The breathtaking woodblock print "Yuzakura, Shinshu Kanbayashi Onsen" (Cherry Blossoms in Evening, Kanbayashi Hot Spring in Shinshu) is by Shiro Kasamtsu (1898 - 1992). Very lovely night image full of cherry blossoms at Shinshu. Japanese title "夕櫻 - 信州上林温泉" Yuzakura, Shinshu Kanbayashi Onsen (Cherry Blossoms in Evening, Kanbayashi Hot Spring in Shinshu) and dated "昭和二十四年五月” Showa 24 nen 5 gatsu (May 1949 ) on the right margin. Artist's signature "紫浪” with the artist's red seal on the lower left corner of the image. Printer's seal "笠松喬介" Kasamatsu Kyosuke (Shiro's son) on the lower left margin. Sheet number and printer's red seal on the lower left corner of the verso. This is a later printing from the original blocks. This print was issued to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Shiro Kasamatsu in 1998. Limited edition size of only 195. The publisher is Kyodo Shuppan Sha. It comes with a hard presentation folder.

Peaceful spring view of the Japanese mountain village. Please see beautiful pink shading on the cherry blossoms. Undated. So little is known about this print because there is practically no documentation and it is extremely difficult to find this print outside of a private collection. Seldom ever seen offered for sale. Title "Sanka no Haru" and "Shiro Kasamatsu" cut into the key block and printed on the bottom margin. Red seal "Shiro" at the lower left corner of the image. Beautifully embossed. You can see a person through the window, this human touch that fits very well into the peaceful print. This print is not just beautiful, I feel warmth heart of Shiro. Cherry blossoms are not only infamous places, but Cherry blossoms also bloom gorgeously in mountain village even not well known. This is a perfect handmade Japanese print by the great artist. Hard to find these old Shiro's prints nowadays.
