The beautiful woodblock print 'Go Go Koinobori (Ai)' is by Kunio Kaneko. Koinobori are carp-shaped flags traditionally displayed during Tango-no-Sekku (Boys’ Festival) in Japan. The top flag features the kanji 愛 (Ai), meaning “love.” The print is rendered in rich, vibrant colors that create a striking contrast. The limited edition number “311” references the date of the devastating 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami (March 11, 2011). Through this work, the artist expresses a heartfelt message of hope—that with love and unity, we can overcome even the greatest disasters.

Condition: In new condition. There are the faintest ink smudges on the bottom margin and within the image (near the lettering on the top flag), as shown. I have reduced the price accordingly. Otherwise, the colors and contrast are stunning.
