- Daisen Kokuritsu Koen (Daisen National Park), First edition -

Hideo Nishiyama

4299

The wonderful woodblock print "Daisen Kokuritsu Koen” (Daisen National Park) is by Hideo Nishiyama (1911-1989). This print shows Mount Daisen in the winter. Printer: Shinmi, Carver: Okura, and Unsodo publisher seal on the left margin. Title "Daisen Kokuritsu Koen" (Daisen National Park), Artist's name "Nishiyama Hideo saku" and dated "Showa 35 nen" (1960) in Japanese on the right margin. "Gei" watermark on the upper left margin corner. Very different and unique style of woodblock print. Hard to find these old original first edition prints nowadays. I noticed that this print looks much more amazing from a little bit of distance.

Hideo Nishiyama (1911 - 1989) was born in Kyoto. He was a well-known (Nihon-ga) Japanese painting artist in Japan. Unsodo published "The Woodblock Prints -National Parks Series" by Hideo Nishiyama and Kaii Higashiyama in 1960.
