- Hato (Girl with Doves) -

The charming woodblock print 'Hato' (Girl with Doves) by Kawano Kaoru (1916–1965) was first self-published in the 1950s; this is a later printing. It depicts a long-haired girl with three doves against a black background. The large white bow in her hair and the gentle presence of the doves create a charming atmosphere. The girl’s expression is one of quiet beauty and peacefulness. Its iconic mid-century color palette and simple composition convey a refined, sophisticated beauty.

Date: First self-published in the 1950s, this is a later print. 
Signed: Artist red seal in the lower left of the image and black seal on the verso. 
Condition: Overall, the print is in very good condition. There are tape residues/stains from previous mounting, as shown. These are visible from the front at the corners and left margin edge. They will be matted out. Please refer to the photographs.
