- Sakura-sō '92 (Japanese Primrose '92) -

The exquisite etching “Sakura-sō ’92” (Japanese Primrose ’92) by Kaoru Saito comes from a limited edition of only 93 sheets. In Japanese haiku almanacs, sakura-sō (Japanese primrose) is classified as a seasonal word for spring, especially late spring. With its delicate clusters of blossoms growing across the fields, it evokes the quiet beauty of the season.

Unlike sakura (cherry blossoms), which are often associated with the festive glamour of hanami flower viewing, sakura-sō carries a gentler image of wildflowers, simplicity, and tender romantic longing. This artwork beautifully captures that spirit, portraying a young woman surrounded by lovely primroses, her wistful expression conveying a sense of innocent grace and quiet yearning.
