- Tsumugi no Onna (Woman in Tsumugi) -

The elegant black-and-white woodblock print Tsumugi no Onna (Woman in Tsumugi) by Masayuki Miyata depicts a woman wearing tsumugi, a traditional Japanese silk fabric known for its subtle texture, against a rhythmic lattice pattern. The kimono’s stylized floral motif and the dramatic contrast of black and white give the composition a sense of quiet elegance and modern clarity. This design also appears in The Collection of Works by Masayuki Miyata.
A pencil inscription along the bottom margin identifies the artist, title, and date (1981), and names Yasuo Matsunaga as the carver and printer.

Masayuki Miyata (1926–1997) was a Japanese kiri-e (paper-cutting) artist. He began his career as an illustrator for modern publications of Japanese classical literature and later became known for his kiri-e works, including woodblock and silkscreen prints.
