The fantastic woodblock print “Tenjin Matsuri” (Tenjin Festival, Osaka) is by Tomikichiro Tokuriki. It captures the spectacular nighttime atmosphere of Osaka’s famous Tenjin Festival, one of Japan’s most celebrated summer events. Countless boats fill the river, while brilliant fireworks illuminate the sky above. In the distance, Osaka Castle rises majestically against the night. The colorful reflections shimmering across the water are especially captivating, lending the scene a remarkable sense of brilliance and excitement. Filled with light, movement, and festive energy, this print wonderfully conveys the joyful spirit of the celebration.

The artist’s signature “Tomi” and the Japanese title “Tenjin Matsuri” appear in the upper right corner of the image. Although this print does not bear a handwritten pencil signature, it was printed during the late Shōwa era while the artist was still alive and is therefore not a recent posthumous impression.
