This contemporary ukiyo-e-inspired silkscreen print, which incorporates a Kuniyoshi signature within the image, is signed and dated 1986 by the contemporary artist. This very large-format work features a striking graphic composition with sharp black linework, flat fields of color, and strong visual contrast. The image draws inspiration from traditional Japanese ukiyo-e portraiture while presenting it in a bold, modern, and highly decorative style. It is a distinctive work for admirers of Japanese art, Pop Art-inspired graphic design, and 1980s printmaking.

This print is from the New York Ukiyo-e series. The series title appears on the original folder cover; however, the folder cover is not included with this sale. (Last picture)

Condition: Overall in good condition. There are minor handling creases, very slight toning along the right edge of the paper, and minor spots on the margins. These imperfections are hardly noticeable and will be concealed when matted. As this is older inventory by an unidentified artist and has minor condition issues, the print is offered at a clearance-sale price. Please see the photographs for details.
