The superb large-format woodblock print Fuji 17 (Mt. Fuji 17) is by Hajime Namiki. The brilliant red form of Mt. Fuji rises dramatically behind intricately rendered pine trees, creating a striking contrast against the deep foreground. The gold-leaf sky gives the composition a bold and radiant presence. In Japan, the sight of Red Fuji is traditionally considered a symbol of good fortune.
