The extremely large-format woodblock print “Kumo no Yukue - Sakura” (Path of the Clouds – Cherry Blossoms) by Mitsuru Hiraki (b. 1958) was printed in 2005 in a limited edition of only 20. This monumental work presents a composition entirely filled with vibrant hearts, drifting cherry blossom petals, and exquisitely rendered blossoms that seem to float across the surface like clouds in motion.

Circles, teardrop forms, delicate gold lines, and softly rounded shapes flow throughout the image, while the interplay of gentle and vivid colors creates a richly dynamic visual experience. Both decorative and deeply atmospheric, the work conveys a remarkable sense of movement, rhythm, and emotional energy.

Impressive in scale, the print powerfully draws the viewer into its luminous world of color and form, creating an overwhelming sense of vitality, beauty, and celebration.

Born in Yamaguchi Prefecture in 1958, Hiraki received his Master of Fine Arts from Tama Art University in 1983. His works have been exhibited widely in Japan and internationally, yet rarely remain available on the market, making them distinctive and highly collectible.

Condition: In pristine condition and obtained directly from the artist. There are faint ink smudges on the top margin, as shown; such minor traces are typical and common in an extremely large handmade work of this nature. They are very subtle and hardly noticeable to the casual observer.
