- Ine no Yuu (Sunset at Ine) -

The serene woodblock print "Ine no Yuu" (Sunset at Ine, Kyoto) by Katsuyuki Nishijima beautifully captures the quiet charm of Ine Town at dusk. Though usually bustling with life, Ine takes on a tranquil, almost dreamlike quality as the sun sets.

As fishermen return home to their families, the soft glow of light filters through shoji (traditional Japanese washi paper windows), casting warm reflections upon the water. This gentle interplay of light and shadow creates a heartwarming, nostalgic atmosphere.

Through his masterful craftsmanship, Nishijima evokes the timeless beauty of Japan, inviting us to pause and embrace the quiet poetry of twilight.

Condition: Excellent condition. A couple of faint ink smudges on the bottom margin and very faint natural paper crease on the top margin edge, which can be easily matted out. Please see the picture. 

Funaya (boat houses) at Ine

The astonishing land-water landscape, created by 230 Funaya (boathouses) forming a circle along the Ine Bay shoreline, is a sight unique to Ine.

At high tide, the Funaya appear to float on the water, resembling a row of houses gently resting on the bay’s surface. Boats are a major mode of local transportation in Ine Bay, and in the past, a school boat was used to ferry children to high school in Miyazu City.
