The striking small-format woodblock print Gekiryū (Raging Current) is by Gihachiro Okuyama (1907–1981). The composition presents Mount Fuji rising serenely in the distance beyond a richly animated expanse of rushing water. The contrast between the still, majestic mountain and the turbulent current creates a finely balanced tension, giving the scene both clarity and dramatic presence.

Rendered in cool, harmonious shades of blue and green, the print reflects Okuyama’s sensitivity to atmosphere, composition, and the enduring beauty of Japan’s natural scenery. It combines decorative elegance with a vivid sense of movement.

The artist’s block signature, “ぎはちろおくやま” (Gihachiro Okuyama), appears in hiragana in the lower-right corner of the image. The work is framed and ready to hang. Its original caption label, featuring the handwritten title, the artist’s printed name, and his red seal, is attached to the reverse of the frame.

Condition: Overall, the print is in good condition, with exquisite detail and fine colors. There are very faint tape stains along the upper edge of the verso, which show slightly from the front. Very faint toning/spots are also present in the upper-right corner area. They are hardly noticeable and are covered by the mat when framed. Please refer to the photographs for details. The wooden frame and glass are in very good condition.
