- Fuji Jū-Nikei no uchi, Sagami Ōyama Raigō-dani (Raigō Valley at Ōyama in Sagami Province, From Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji) -

Hiroshige Utagawa (1797 - 1858)

5592

The beautiful woodblock print "Fuji Jū-Nikei no uchi, Sagami Ōyama Raigō-dani" (Raigō Valley at Ōyama in Sagami Province, from Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji) is by Hiroshige Ando (1797–1858). The print captures a wonderful view of Mt. Fuji from near the summit of Mt. Ōyama. Along with Mt. Fuji, Mt. Ōyama has been considered an object of mountain worship. In the upper right, you can see the torii gate of Afuri Shrine, which is dedicated to the god of the sea and rain. The title "Sagami Ōyama Raigō-dani", "Hiroshige" red seal, and embossed seal are in the lower right of the image. When Hiroshige was in his late 50s, he drew this series (Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji). They were originally sketchbooks/picture albums of hand-painting. They are very delicate, and the subtle colors are beautiful. This woodblock print is a high-quality Fukkoku Mokuhan (reproduction woodblock print) by Yoshio Kawazura (1880–1963). Printed in Taisho 14 (1925). This is rarely on the market. It is still tipped on the original folder.
