Hiroshige Ando (1797 - 1858)


The amazing woodblock print "Fuji Jū-Nikei no uchi, Meguro Chiyogasaki" (Chiyo Promontory at Meguro, From Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji) is by Hiroshige Ando (1797-1858). The print captures the autumn beauty of Mt. Fuji in all its glory, with two women enjoying the phenomenal view. The title "Meguro Chiyogasaki, "Hiroshige" red seal, and embossed seal in the lower right corner of the image. When Hiroshige was in his late 50s, he drew this series (Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji). They were originally sketchbooks/picture albums of hand-painting. They are very delicate, and the subtle colors are beautiful. This woodblock print is a High-quality Fukkoku Mokuhan (reproduction woodblock print) by Yoshio Kawazura (1880-1963). Printed in Taisho 14 (1925). This is rarely on the market. It is still tipped on the original folder.

Signed: "Hiroshige" red seal in the lower right corner of the image.
