- MASHIKO POTTER, 1974 -

The remarkable woodblock print "MASHIKO POTTER" is by Ted Colyer (b. 1947). The print features a portrait of the Mashiko potter (an artist of Mashiko pottery) rendered in simple black, grey, and white tones. The wrinkles and expressions on the face are beautifully depicted, conveying the warm humanity of the potter.

Ted Colyer was born in Canada in 1947. He studied traditional woodblock printmaking in Tokyo under Toshi Yoshida. He became a renowned Western artist in Japan and his work is now featured in collections around the world.
