Odorii (Dance) from "Rajo jusshu" (Ten female nudes) is by Toraji Ishikawa (1875-1964) Printed in Showa 10 nen (1935), this print is later edition from original key block. Ishikawa's best-known prints are the series "Ten female nudes" from 1934. This print shows Taisho era's dancer (1930's), the iconic image of Japanese art deco. Very alluring and popular print. This print is seldom offered on the market nowadays. Highly desirable print. Silver metallic ink on the net. Watermarked "Ishikawa Toraji" on the right bottom of the paper. The Carver name "Yamagishi Kazue"(1891-1984), printer name "Keizaburo Matsuzaki" (1937- ) on the lower left margin. Please see the picture. This print has been framed, but the original frame was very old and broken, so I took this print out of the original frame. This print would be wonderful with a new complementary frame.
*This printer Keizaburo Matsuzaki was born in Chiba prefecture in 1937. (Showa 12 nen), so this print is the later edition from original key block.

Ancient Shirakawa barrier is a historic place and is located about 10 km south of Shirakawa city. It was set up in the 5th century. At that time, there were different ethnic groups in northern Japan. But the Japanese government was expanding its territory to the north. This barrier was built on the main route for protection from the groups. After that, the Japanese government had occupied the whole Tohoku District, then this barrier had felt into desuetude completely. But some of heroes or intellectuals in various periods in history visited here because this legendary site had been the only entrance to Tohoku District. Over time, the remains had been lost completely. In 1800, Sadanobu Matsudaira, the lord of Shirakawa Domain, confirmed the exact location by the study of various historical documents. He built a stone monument at that place. Now there are only the stone monument, Shirakawa Shrine built-in 771, and some landmarks of buildings and moats.

Beautiful woodblock print "Swan House (Atlanta)" is by Fumio Kitaoka (1918 - 2007). Printed in 1987. Very large size print. Amazing old mansion "Swan House" image in Atlanta, Georgia with stunning colors. Printed on special watermarked paper, "FUMIO KITAOKA". Titled, dated, and hand-signed on the bottom margin.
"Swan House, in this woodblock print, is an old mansion in a residential section of Atlanta. It is preserved as a historical site and maintained by the Atlanta Historical Society. Reference to the white building in the midst of a spacious 19th-century European garden and further surrounded by a large front lawn and green grove of trees as a swan is appropriately elegant. As the home of a millionaire of the day, my mind's eye can envision scenes of parties taking place nightly and attended by well-dressed ladies and gentlemen. The house happened to be closed to visitors on the day I saw it, so I was not able to go inside, but the Swan House I viewed through the baroque-style front gate very appropriately conveyed the reality of the Old South."
