- Scorpio (Constellation Series) #5 -

The sophisticated large-format silkscreen print "Scorpio" (Sasoriza) from the Constellation Series is by Hamae Kusakabe (b. 1931). This elegant composition features a graceful, feminine interpretation of the zodiac sign Scorpio, surrounded by stylized chrysanthemums, the birth flower for November. Soft celadon tones are beautifully contrasted with vibrant red accents, creating a refined and harmonious composition. The print would be especially appealing to those born under the sign of Scorpio (October 24–November 22).

This impression is pencil signed "Hamae Kusakabe," dated 1973, titled "Sasoriza" (Scorpio), and numbered 26/100 in the lower margin. The edition was limited to only 100 impressions. The original exhibition label remains affixed to the verso and is inscribed in Japanese with the title "Scorpio" (Constellation Series) by Hamae Kusakabe (Seiza Series, Sasoriza). Hamae Kusakabe was born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, in 1931. She is a painter, printmaker, and sculptor who is particularly known for her imaginative and highly original silkscreen prints.
