- The Girl and the Black Cat, 1956 -

The charming woodblock print "The Girl and the Black Cat" is a captivating work by Kihei Sasajima (1906–1993), printed in 1956. While his beloved cat prints are highly sought after, they rarely appear on the market. This particular print is a beautiful example of Sōsaku Hanga—marked by its bold design and emotional depth. It comes from a small edition of only 30 sheets, adding to its allure and rarity. The artist’s red seal appears in the lower right corner of the image, with the edition number, artist's signature, and date written in pencil in the bottom margin. 

Kihei Sasajima was born in 1906 in Tochigi Prefecture. His artistic vision was deeply shaped by his mentors, Shikō Munakata and Un'ichi Hiratsuka. Today, his works are cherished by collectors around the world.
