The striking woodblock print 'Itsukushima' (A Distant View of Itsukushima Seen from Hatsukaichi-machi) by Junichiro Sekino captures the enchanting night view of Itsukushima, also known as Miyajima, in Hiroshima. A red torii gate rises gracefully from the water, creating a dreamlike and poetic landscape. Soft reflections of light shimmer across the surface of water, filling the scene with a gentle, heartwarming atmosphere.
The Japanese title “Itsukushima” in the right side of the image and the artist’s red seal, “Seki,” appear in the lower portion of the image. The print is dated ’82, hand-signed “Jun Sekino,” and includes the sheet number and watermark along the bottom margin.
