You see Hokusai's "Great wave" print on the wall and beautiful blue and white plates on the shelf in the store's showcase in Kyoto. Kimono lady has a blue and white umbrella and fan. Obi sash is beautifully embossed. The beautiful black hair adds a very nice contrast with the overall blue color scheme. This print has the most Japanese mood by blue and white colors. This print is at several museums in Japan. Printed on handmade mulberry paper with full margins. Once tipped on the bottom of verso. Very strong impression with fine colors. A prime example of Elizabeth Keith's work.

This print is fairly scarce and difficult to obtain. Beautiful "bokashi" shading to the sky, mountain, and water. Skillful realistic reflection on the water's surface. Great colors and finely carved. From "Section of Views of the Tokaido" (Tokaido Fukei Senshu) Lifetime printing. Beautiful castle scene in early summer. This print shows skillfully executed bokashi shading on the background and stone wall. Right margin has the title "Nagoya-jo". Left margin has showa 7 nen 5 gatsu saku" (Printed May 1932). Normally this print has D seal (1931-1941) or J seal (1946-1957), however, this print doesn't have the seal. I heard from the publisher before, sometimes it happened entirely missing any publisher's seal in those days. Just Watanabe forgot seal. This print has minor paper toning from its age with 2 drying holes on the left margin. If you know older Hasui print, you will see this print is old obviously from colors, paper, and texture. This print is not often seen on the market and fairly scarce. It is very seldom to see this print on the market even inside Japan.

The dramatic Stencil print "Ryokuei" (Fresh Green) is by Kan Kawada (1927-1999). Very striking print. Japanese title "Ryokuei", dated '90, sheet number 11/68, signed by hand on the bottom margin. Sprinkled with metallic mica flakes on the green colors as shown. Very lovely. Kan Kawada was originally "Katazome" (Stencil dyeing) artist, however, he created many beautiful stencil prints like this. He is a well-known artist, especially outside Japan. Kawada's striking red color and dynamic composition are very attractive for his worldwide collectors. After his death (1999), his art prices went up quickly, also it is hard to find his small limited edition print. This print is only 68 limited edition.

So little is known about this print because there is practically no documentation and it is extremely difficult to find this print outside of a private collection. Seldom ever seen offered for sale. Title "Sanka no Haru" and "Shiro Kasamatsu" cut into the key block and printed on the bottom margin. Red seal "Shiro" at the lower left corner of the image. Beautifully embossed. You can see a person through the window, this human touch that fits very well into the peaceful print. This print is not just beautiful, I feel warmth heart of Shiro. Cherry blossoms are not only infamous places, but Cherry blossoms also bloom gorgeously in mountain village even not well known. This is a perfect handmade Japanese print by the great artist. Hard to find these old Shiro's prints nowadays.

Kashio Baba was born in Tokyo in 1927. He was a painter and printmaker from the Showa era. Chizuko Yoshida was born in 1924 in Kanagawa Prefecture. Her husband was Hodaka Yoshida, the second son of Hiroshi Yoshida. After studying woodblock printing under Hodaka and Fumio Kitaoka, she created beautiful works featuring stars, butterflies, and flowers using a technique that involves not only woodblock printing but also the combination of woodblock and zinc plate printing. She is a popular female artist.

The lovely woodblock print 'Sosui' (The Keage Incline in Spring, Kyoto) is part of the '100 Scenes of Kyoto' series. The Keage Incline is the remains of a slope railway (incline) that was part of the boat transport route along the Lake Biwa Canal in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto City. This woodblock print skillfully captures the impressive sight of the railway stretching straight up the gentle slope, full of cherry blossoms.
Cobblestones and iron rails continue in the direction of Nanzen-ji Temple. The left margin features the publisher's name 'Kan-ei-do' with a red publisher's seal, the carver's name 'Shoichi Kitamura,' and the printer's name 'Osamu Harada.

This heartwarming woodblock print, titled 'Te wo Tsunagu Kotachi' (Children Holding Hands) is by Gyojin Murakami (1911-1998). Amidst the evening glow, children walk hand in hand. Gazing at the adorable big shadows of the children warms the heart. Probably, almost everyone will feel a sense of nostalgia, remembering that there were times like these. It's a charming print that resonates with the heart, portraying a peaceful and nostalgic landscape. The print is dated, hand-signed, and titled in pencil by the artist on the bottom margin. The artist's block sign 'Gyojin' is located in the lower right corner of the image.
Gyojin Murakami (1911-1998) was born in Innoshima Island in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture. He began creating woodblock prints before the war and continued to produce creative woodblock prints for a long time after the war. He depicted numerous people living in fishing villages, and his warm works made him a popular woodblock print artist in the Sosaku Hanga era.

The breathtaking woodblock print "Fuji Jū-Nikei no uchi, Shimosa Konodai" (Konodai in Shimosa Province) From Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji) is by Hiroshige Ando (1797-1858). The print captures a magnificent view from the famous spot of Konodai, renowned for the Fuji of Shimosa and the autumn leaves. The title "Shimosa Konodai", "Hiroshige" red seal, and embossed seal in the lower left corner of the image. When Hiroshige was in his late 50s, he drew this series (Twelve Views of Mt. Fuji). They were originally sketchbooks/picture albums of hand-painting. They are very delicate, and the subtle colors are beautiful. This woodblock print is a High-quality Fukkoku Mokuhan (reproduction woodblock print) by Yoshio Kawazura (1880-1963). Printed in Taisho 14 (1925). This is rarely on the market. It is still tipped on the original folder.

The wonderful black and white print "Asakusa Fukei, Taifu no ato no Okuyama" (Views of Asakusa, Okuyama after the Typoon) is by Unichi Hiratsuka (1985-1997). This print depicts a peaceful Okuyama after the typhoon. Around Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, Tokyo which has been called "Okuyama" since the mid-Edo period, this shopping street is located. Okuyama has been bustling with show houses and street performances.
Unichi Hiratsuka is well known as the Master of Black and White. The Japanese title, subtitle, and artist's block-signed "Hiratsuka Unichi" in Japanese on the right margin. The hand-signed 'Un-ichi Hiratsuka' and sheet number '20/30' on the bottom margin. The artist's red seal is in the lower right corner of the image. It comes with the original folder.
Unichi Hiratsuka is called the "father of the Sosaku Hanga" and one of the very famous artists of 21st-century Japanese art. He said, “Printing in black on white is often considered the first step of technique, but it is actually the final point. The most beautiful range of color is black and white”
