First printed in 1929 originally by Kawaguchi & Sakai; this is a later printing by Shobisha from the original blocks. Shobisha obtained the original blocks in about 1950. The beautiful woodblock print "Hanabi" (Fireworks) is by Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934) A woman is watching fireworks at the riverside. Colorful fireworks reflect on the water. Limited edition size of only 500 sheets. The artist's seal is on the lower left corner of the image. Artist's name "Yumeji", the title "Hanabi", the date "'97", the edition number, and the publisher's name "Minato-ya" with a red seal on the bottom margin. (in pencil by publisher) This is a recarved edition by Minato-ya (publisher) in 1997. The woman's Kimono colors and firework colors are matching which is very lovely and tasteful.
Yumeji Takehisa was born in Okayama in 1884. He is very famous for his Bijin-ga (paintings of beautiful women), in addition, he succeeded as an illustrator for many books or advertisements. His typical lyrical works were called 'Yumeji-style beauties (Bijin). He is a representative painter of Taisho romance, and was sometimes called the "Ukiyo-e artist of the Taisho era''.

Rozanji Temple was built in the year 938 on a hill called Funaokayama situated on the northern outskirts of Kyoto by the priest Ganzan Daishi. It is one of the four temples that had an Okurodo (a private Buddhist chapel of the imperial family originally located in the Imperial Palace). These temples belonged directly to the Imperial Court as does Rozanji today. The moss and gravel garden at Rozan-ji temple is planted with bellflowers.

The beautiful woodblock print "Baika ni Uso" (Bullfinch in the Plum Blossoms) is by Shoson Ohara (1877 - 1945) This is a later print from the original blocks. Published by Watanabe publisher. Artist's signature "Shoson" with the artist's red seal, and two Watanabe Seals in the lower right corner. Very soft romantic colors and amazing contrast. The theme of "Small birds in the plum blossoms" is found extensively in Japanese artistic tradition. Absolutely beautiful.
According to the Watanabe publisher, In conjunction with the Daihei Print Shop, Ryogoku, this artist made bird and flower designs for color prints under the name "Koson". In 1912, he changed his name to "Shoson" and produced only paintings until 1926, when he returned to color prints, which have been published in connection with the Watanabe print shop (Watanabe publisher).

The amazing woodblock print "Negai no Sakura" (Cherry Blossoms full of wishes) is by Kazuyuki Ohtsu. Mr. Ohtsu told me an interesting story about this print. This beautiful print recounts a very romantic story. This location (Fukushima prefecture) - where the cherry blossoms stand, was a meeting place for couples in the Japanese movie "First Love". After they meet, the couples would wish for their happiness together as a couple, This cherry tree would become a popular spot for couples.
