This mini-sized woodblock print was originally created for a calendar of its time and published by Chikuho-do. This handmade print makes a perfect decoration for a small space or a charming gift for someone special.
The print humorously depicts a small cat chasing away a giant demon cat by scattering beans around it. Bean throwing is a traditional Japanese custom associated with the celebration of Setsubun, during which roasted soybeans are thrown while shouting, “Devils out! Fortune in!”
